Character Summary

Varek channels the Voraxn hunger into escalating physical force, making him the clan's most destructive close-range hunter.

Biography

The Rage of the Hunt breaks fortified prey and protects the clan during withdrawal, but every surge pushes him closer to becoming an appetite with no strategy left inside it.

Canon history

Backstory

Varek was celebrated for the exact trait that made Kexar an outcast: obvious physical power. Jakar trained him to become the impact point in coordinated hunts.
Each successful strike intensifies his curse response. The effect can carry him through injuries that should end a fight, but it also narrows his ability to distinguish mission from hunger.
His contempt for Blood-Hound hides fear that skill, discipline, and Nighthunger may ultimately matter more than the strength on which Varek built his identity.

Origin

Varek's expression of the Butterfly Curse converts pursuit and absorbed life force into extreme bursts of strength and pain tolerance.

Powers

  1. 01Cursed Voraxn physiology

The Butterfly Curse reinforces a Voraxn hunter's strength, speed, reflexes, senses, and resilience. The same curse also makes those advantages dependent on a continuing cycle of pursuit and life-force absorption.

  2. 02Life-force absorption

A successful hunt restores stamina and intensifies the hunter's physical capabilities. This is not ordinary feeding: the curse converts the vitality of prey into the energy that keeps a Voraxn from deteriorating.

  3. 03Predator senses

Voraxn can track heat, scent, movement, and faint sound through darkness and difficult terrain. A coordinated clan can follow one target across environments that would defeat conventional surveillance.

  4. 04Hunt rage

Pursuit and absorbed vitality can drive short bursts of extreme force, durability, and pain suppression.

Equipment

  1. 01Breaker armor

Heavy clan armor designed to survive the first impact when Varek enters a fortified position.

Weaknesses

  1. 01The hunger

Without a hunt or a source of absorbed life force, a Voraxn weakens physically and psychologically. Prolonged deprivation produces pain, loss of focus, and eventual bodily collapse.

  2. 02Curse-driven instinct

Powerful prey can pull a hunter away from sound strategy. The curse rewards pursuit so aggressively that restraint becomes a continuous act of discipline.

  3. 03Myst witchcraft

The clan's condition began with Minka Myst's Butterfly Curse. Myst-lineage rites can identify, aggravate, redirect, or potentially unmake parts of the bond.

  4. 04Berserker tunnel vision

At peak output Varek may ignore traps, allies, and the reason the hunt began.

Trivia

  1. 01
Varek measures status by the strength of prey survived, not by the number killed.
